Accepting these terms
These terms cover your use of the Driveline Pleasant Hill Concrete website and any estimate, quote or work you get from us. By using the site, asking for an estimate or booking a job, you agree to them.
If a written agreement for your job says something different from these terms, the written agreement controls for that job. If you don't agree with these terms, please don't use the site or book work with us.
What we do
Driveline Pleasant Hill Concrete is a concrete contractor in Pleasant Hill, CA. We pour and repair driveways, patios, sidewalks, steps, garage floors, pool decks, retaining walls, footings and foundations, and we do stamped and decorative work and concrete cutting for homes in Pleasant Hill and the cities around it.
The home page lists the work we take on, and our About page explains who we are. A service shown on the site is a general description. The details of your job come from your written estimate.
Estimates and pricing
We give free estimates at your property, with no obligation to hire us. An estimate is based on what we can see and measure that day, so it covers the size of the area, the thickness of the slab, the finish you pick, what has to be torn out and how much base work is needed.
Some conditions only show up once the old concrete is out and we're digging. Soft or wet soil under the slab, buried roots, old footings, debris or unmarked pipes and lines are examples. If we find something that changes the work or the price, we'll stop, show you what we found and get your approval before we go ahead with the extra work.
An estimate stays good for the period written on it. After that, material costs and our schedule may have changed, so we may need to update it.
Scheduling, weather and cancellation
We'll give you a start date once you approve the estimate. Concrete depends on the weather, so we may move a pour if rain, high heat or other conditions would hurt the finished slab. We'd rather wait a day than pour something that won't last.
If you need to cancel or reschedule, please tell us as early as you can by phone at (707) 750-8660 or through our contact page. If we've already ordered materials, scheduled a concrete delivery or started work, you may owe us for those costs. Your written agreement will say how this works for your job.
Payment
Payment amounts, any deposit and due dates are set out in your written estimate or agreement. California limits how large a down payment a home improvement contractor can ask for, and we follow that limit.
Payment for finished work is due as the agreement states. If a payment is late, we may pause further work until the account is current, and we may use the remedies California law allows a contractor who hasn't been paid.
Your part of the job
You agree to give our crew safe access to the work area and to tell us about anything you know is buried there, such as sprinkler lines, drain pipes, septic parts or private utility lines. We'll arrange the standard utility markings before we dig, but private lines on your property often aren't marked, so we can't be responsible for damage to lines nobody told us about.
New concrete needs time to cure, which is the wait while it hardens and gains strength before it can take weight. We'll tell you when it's safe to walk on and when it's safe to drive on. Damage from using the slab early, from vehicles or equipment heavier than it was built for, or from other people working on it isn't covered.
If your project needs a permit from the city or county, we'll talk with you about it during the estimate. Who applies for it will be written into your agreement.
Warranty and what concrete does
We stand behind our work, and any warranty for your job will be written into your agreement, with what it covers and for how long. Apart from that written warranty and any warranty California law requires, we don't make other promises about the work, stated or implied.
Concrete shrinks as it cures and moves a little with heat, cold and the soil under it, so small hairline cracks can happen even on a well-built slab. We cut control joints, which are planned grooves that give the slab a place to crack in a straight line instead of at random, to keep that movement where we chose. Hairline cracks, slight color differences between pours, and small changes in texture are normal and aren't defects.
The warranty doesn't cover damage from soil movement or settling we couldn't have found, tree roots, drainage changes made after we leave, de-icing salts or harsh chemicals, sealers or coatings someone else applied, or misuse.
Limitation of liability
We are licensed and fully insured, and we take responsibility for our own workmanship. To the extent California law allows, Driveline Pleasant Hill Concrete isn't liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost use of your driveway while it cures, and our total liability for any job is limited to the amount you paid us for that job.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law doesn't allow us to limit, such as liability for gross negligence or willful misconduct.
Using this website
The information on this site is general and is meant to help you understand concrete work. It isn't advice for your specific property, and it doesn't replace an on-site estimate.
We try to keep the site accurate, but we can't promise that every page is complete or current. The text, photos and design on the site belong to Driveline Pleasant Hill Concrete, and you may not copy them for commercial use without our permission.
Resolving a dispute
If you're unhappy with our work or a bill, call us first at (707) 750-8660 or reach us through the contact page. Most problems get settled faster by talking it through on site, and we'll come look.
If we can't settle it that way, either of us may take the matter to small claims court or to a court with authority in Contra Costa County, California. You may also contact the state licensing board for California contractors with a complaint.
Governing law
These terms and any work we do for you are governed by the laws of the State of California.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time, and the version posted on this page is the one that applies. Changes don't affect a job you've already signed an agreement for unless we both agree in writing.
If you have questions about these terms, please call (707) 750-8660 or send us a message through our contact page.
